Regional Aquatic Animal Health

This section provides information on regional initiatives to promote aquatic animal health while reducing the risk of spreading serious transboundary aquatic animal diseases (TAADs). It includes examples of sources of information on regional disease reporting systems, regional aquatic animal health strategies, regional agreements, regional instruments and associated links drawn mainly from the Asia-Pacific region.

Readers should note that global instruments and agreements, particularly the World Trade Organization (WTO) and its Agreement on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS Agreement) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), through its Aquatic Animal Health Code and Manual of Diagnostic Tests for Aquatic Animals have played a major role in the shaping of regional aquatic animal health activities (Related information is available in the Global Aquatic Animal Health).
